The basics
What is Tribute Studios?
Tribute Studios makes a film for the service from everyone's photographs, with a memorial page for afterwards. Their own song can be added. A family can use it directly, or a funeral home or a tribute maker can open a tribute on a family's behalf. Every path leads to the same film.
Is Tribute Studios finished and open for business?
Not yet. It is a working preview. You can gather photographs, prepare a film and write a song, but we do not take live payments yet. Checkout runs in a test mode that cannot charge a card. We say so wherever it matters.
Do guests need an account?
No. Guests open one private link, add photographs or short clips, and can leave a caption and a memory. They never create an account or a password.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. Every step is built for a phone first, because that is where most family photographs are. It also works on a tablet or a computer, in any current browser.
Photographs and the film
How many photographs can go in the film?
Up to 60 in the Film and 150 in the Longer film. Short clips count towards the same number. More can be gathered than are shown: the guest link holds up to 200 for either film, and the family chooses which ones belong in the film.
How long is the film, and what format is it?
The film is a 1080p MP4 file at 1920 by 1080, which plays on chapel screens, televisions, laptops and phones. Each photograph is on screen for a few seconds, so the length follows the number of photographs, up to 8 minutes for the Film and 15 minutes for the Longer film.
What kinds of files can people add?
Photographs up to 8 MB each and video clips up to 30 MB each. A clip plays for up to 8 seconds in the film, without its sound, so the music is not interrupted. You can also add one music recording of up to 20 MB if you have the right to use it.
What happens to old or damaged photographs?
They are retouched automatically. Scratches, fading and old black and white prints are cleaned up with AI as photographs arrive, and it comes with every film at no extra cost. In this preview the retouching service is not connected yet, so photographs go into the film as they were added.
Does the film come with music?
Always. Every film includes a studio track, or you can add a recording you have the right to use. Their own song, made with AI from your words, is a separate product that can become the film's soundtrack.
Will photographs be cropped?
No. Every photograph is shown whole, with gentle movement. The family can set the centre of interest for each one, so the movement settles on the right face.
Can we change the film after it is prepared?
Yes. Change the order, leave a photograph out, pick a different look or different music, and prepare the film again. There is no charge for preparing it again.
The song
Who makes the song?
The words are yours, and the music is made with AI. In the song studio you tell the story, shape the lyrics and describe the sound. The song is then made with AI from your words. We say so plainly, here and on every page that offers it.
What does the song cost?
The song is $49, after a free short preview. Each song after the first is $29. Bought with a film, the two together are $179. Writing the words in the song studio is free and needs no account, and your draft is saved in the browser on your own device.
Can a film have more than one song?
Yes. A tribute carries up to 5 songs. They play one after another, and the film runs for their length, up to the longest film it allows. The first song comes with the film and song together, and each one after it is an add-on.
Can I hear my song today?
Not in this preview. The studio helps you write the lyrics and describe the sound, and you can download the lyric sheet. The AI music service is not connected yet. Until it is, a film that uses your song plays a gentle studio instrumental instead, and the page tells you so.
Can I bring my own lyrics, or have no words at all?
Yes to both. You can start from a story, paste lyrics you have already written, or choose music without words. Sections can be added, renamed, reordered and locked so they are not changed.
Cost and payment
What does it cost?
The Film is $149. The Longer film adds $50, which makes it $199. The song is $49, and the film and song together are $179. Prices are in Australian dollars with GST included, paid once per tribute. Opening a tribute, gathering photographs, and preparing and watching the film are free. Paying covers downloading the film and sharing the memorial page.
Can I pay today?
No. Tribute Studios does not take live payments yet. Checkout is connected to Stripe in test mode only, and the product refuses live payment keys. When payments open, this page and the pricing page will say so.
Who pays when a funeral home is involved?
Whoever holds the tribute. When a funeral home or a tribute maker opens a tribute for a family, the partner pays from its own account and the family is never asked for a card. A partner pays $149 per film, or $179 with its first song, and each song after that is $19. When a family comes direct, the family pays.
Can a funeral home or a tribute maker use its own name?
Yes. A partner account is for funeral homes and for the people who make tribute films for them. The family's link, the guest link, the memorial page and the film's end card carry the partner's name, and what the partner charges the family is theirs to set.
Privacy and care
Who can see the photographs?
Only people with the right link. The guest link can add photographs and nothing else. The family link can choose and order them. The memorial page is not published until the person holding the tribute chooses to share it, and search engines are asked not to list it.
How is artificial intelligence used?
In three places, and we name each one. Writing help is optional, works from the words you have given, and is instructed never to invent names, dates, places or events. The song's music is made with AI from your words. Old photographs are retouched with AI. In this preview the music and retouching services are not connected, so nothing is sent to either. When they are, a photograph will be sent only to be retouched, and the privacy page will name each provider first.
Can we have everything deleted?
Yes. The person who holds the tribute can ask us to delete a photograph, a whole tribute or the whole account, and we will do it and confirm in writing. The privacy page explains how.
Still unsure? Send us a message, or read about privacy and trust and safety.
Begin with a name.
Open a tribute and send one link. Gathering the photographs and watching the film cost nothing, and you pay only when you are happy with it.
